AI assistant
Sorus has an AI assistant that can answer questions about your workspace, help you write in a page, and fill in an object's fields.
Availability
The assistant shows only in copies of Sorus that have AI set up. For now, that's developer builds. It uses Google's Gemini.
What leaves your device
When you use the assistant, what you send goes to the AI provider. That includes your question or instruction, the text you selected or the page you're on, and anything the assistant reads to answer you. Everything else stays on your device.
Ask about your workspace
- Press ⇧⌘K, or choose Ask AI… in the palette.
- Type a question, such as What did I plan for Porto?, and press ↵.
The assistant searches and reads your pages, objects, day log and calendar, then answers. Below the answer, it lists what it read; click one to open it.
- Ask a follow-up and it keeps the conversation going.
- New starts over.
- The stop button ends an answer early.
Ask it to change things
Ask for a change, such as Rename Recipes to Bread recipes and add a to-do to buy flour. The assistant doesn't make it. It lists what it would do under Changes to make, each ticked. Untick any you don't want, then click Make changes. Each shows Done, or Failed with why.
It can create, rename, move and edit pages, update objects, add and finish tasks and events, log to your day, and move things to the trash. It can't delete anything for good.
Write in a page
Edit text: select it, then press ⇧⌘A (or choose Ask AI in the / menu). Pick Improve, Shorter, Longer, Fix spelling, Summarize or As a list, or type your own instruction and press ↵.
Write something new: with nothing selected, it writes at the caret. Pick Continue, Summarize the page or Next steps, or type your own.
The answer appears as it's written. Then choose:
- Replace (or Insert) to keep it;
- Insert below to keep your text and add the answer after it;
- Try again for another version;
- Discard to drop it.
Nothing in the page changes until you keep it. Esc closes the bar.
Fill in an object's fields
On an object's page, click Fill with AI. The assistant suggests values for its fields from what the page says and what's widely known, such as a book's author or the year a film came out. It fills text, numbers, dates, links, yes/no and choices.
A preview lists each suggestion with a checkbox. Untick any you don't want, then click Fill in. Fields it isn't sure of are left out.
