Templates

A template is a starting point for pages and objects of a type: text for the page, and, for an object, values for some of its fields, such as a Book's Status set to Reading.

Every type can have templates, Page included. A workspace starts with a Meeting page template.

Use one

A new page or object of a type that has templates shows them under Template, at the top. Click one to fill it in. They go once you've chosen one or started writing.

To use one later, or change to another, click Template above the title (it shows when you point at the top of the page) and choose it. If you've written in the page, Sorus asks before replacing the text; the fields are set either way.

A field whose value the type no longer takes, such as an option since removed, is left empty.

A default

One template of a type can be its default: new pages or objects of the type start from it, without your choosing it. In Types, point at a template and click Make default; click Default to stop. The other templates are still there to change to, and a new page left as its default made it is cleared away like an empty one.

Save one

Fill in a page or object the way you'd like new ones to start. Click Template above its title, then Save as template…, and name it. Its text, and an object's field values, become the template.

Change them

Choose Edit templates… from the Template menu, or open a type in Types: its templates are listed under its fields. Click one to open it in the editor, as a page or object is, marked Template across the top so it isn't taken for one. Change its title, text and fields there; click Done, or go to another page, and the template keeps what you changed. It doesn't show among your pages while it's open.

Click + Template to make one from scratch, or the bin beside one to delete it. Sorus and objects made from a template keep what it gave them.

Extensions can bring templates too. Basics comes with Friend, Reading notes, Kickoff and Trip stop.
